Letting Go by the River
Inspired by a visualization practice in my energy course that I often return to when feeling overwhelmed or needing to release emotional tension and restore my energy.
Begin by finding a comfortable position- sitting or lying down- and allow your body to settle.
Take a slow breath in through your nose… and gently exhale through your mouth.
Again… breathing in… and letting go.
Imagine yourself sitting beside a quiet, flowing river.
Notice the movement of the water… steady, continuous, effortless.
Now, gently bring your awareness to anything you may be holding onto.
You might focus on any emotions or thoughts you’d like to release—whether that’s anxiety, sadness, worry, regret, or frustration.
There’s no need to analyze or change anything—just noticing what’s there.
As each feeling or thought arises, imagine placing it onto a leaf in the river.
Watch as the current carries it away… drifting further downstream.
As it moves, notice it becoming smaller… lighter… until it slowly fades from view.
You don’t need to hold onto everything right now.
As space begins to open, imagine the river offering something back to you—
a sense of calm… clarity… or steadiness.
Visualize that energy gently flowing toward you, filling each breath… and the space that has been created.
Allow yourself to receive whatever arises.
Take a slow breath in…and gently exhale.
When you’re ready, you can gently bring your awareness back to the space around you.
